Project: UK/05/B/F/PP-162_389

Duration: 10/ 2005 - 30/ 09/ 2007

The project is a development of the extremely successful Leonardo Peer Mentor Support Project which promotes the social, economic educational inclusion of young people from disadvantaged disengaged groups. It works with the broad target groups of learning and physical disabilities, disaffected at risk young people. The Euromentor extends the latter named project to a wider audience in new countries, additional target groups, and train mentors to support disadvantaged young people. It’s applied in the workplace as well as in training work placements, to pilot the Training Trainers Course, developed accredited by the current PMS project, in all partner countries.

Partnership:
coordinator: Gorseinon College (United Kingdom)
Trinity Fields School and Research Centre (United Kingdom),
Balear Development and Training Co. Ltd. (Spain),
Faculty of Human Kinetics, Technical University of Lisbon (Portugal),
APPACDM (PT), AEFL (Bulgaria)

Tempo´s role
To develop approaches and support materials to facilitate employers commitment and participation in employing groups currently excluded from vocational training and employment.

Aims, objectives
This project focuses on a very special target group, meaning that the target group is not very usual. Yes, indeed, it is young prisoners and young deliquent and educating, mentoring, tutoring and preparing them for normal life after they are released. There are many important criteria connected with that. For instance, prison staff and other employees’ trainings, so that they are well prepared for working with that problematic group of people. For a long period of time there was a constant stagnation in the Czech prison system and therefore many negative facts had appeared throughout the years. This is the leftover heritage mainly after the communistic era. In this connection could be mentioned that the cell equipment and conditions are in very bad     shape and added the leisure time facilities are not sufficient. The personnel is often not educated and qualified enough for the level they are supposed to work on, there is a lack of specialiyed personnel (doctors, psychologists, social workers and educators)
