(Socrates programme before 2003)

The aim of the Grundtvig programme (2007-2013) is to address the teaching and learning needs of institutions and individuals involved in adult education. In particular, it aims to respond to the challenge of an ageing population and to provide pathways for adults to improve their knowledge and competences. Grundtvig addresses all adult learners who, at whatever stage of their lives, wish to increase their capacity to play a full and active role in society, to develop their intercultural awareness, to improve or update their general skills or to enhance their capacity to enter or re-enter formal education.
